"From sand to glass. History, technology and application." exhibition has opened at the District Museum in Sandomierz. The project has been developed in cooperation with the NSG Group in Poland.
The history of glass production in Sandomierz and its vicinity dates back to the 1930s. It has always had a significant impact on the economic development of the city. That is why the new exhibition includes an important historical narrative between Sandomierz and the glassworks located in the city. In addition to the historical outline, museum visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the technology of glass production process in detail – from a grain of sand to a highly processed glass pane.
“As one of the largest production companies in the region, we have been supporting both the city of Sandomierz and the local community in various initiatives for many years. This is not the first project that we organise together with the city’s cultural institutions. At the exhibition, we present a wide spectrum of glass and its applications – from architectural glass, through car windows, to technical glass. An additional attraction for visitors is a model of our glass furnace and an extensive interactive part” – says Jerzy Baran, Operations Director at Pilkington Polska.
The organizers of the exhibition gave it an educational dimension. In the coming months, the people of Sandomierz and tourists coming to the city will have the opportunity to get to know the everyday use of glass and its amazing features thanks to the use of interactive presentation solutions.
“Glass production in Sandomierz has a rich and interesting history. In order to present it the most interesting way, we established cooperation with the NSG Group – one of the most significant glass producers in the world and the largest employers in the region. It is the first exhibition of this type at our Museum. We are sure that its educational value, as well as its interactive character, will be very well received by the residents, but also by the large number of tourists who come to Sandomierz” - adds Dominik Płaza, Director of the District Museum in Sandomierz.
The exhibition "From sand to glass. History, technology and application.” is open for visitors from July to December this year at the Gallery of the District Museum at the Royal Castle in Sandomierz.
